Release notes for SSIP-GST version 1.0.0
========================================

SSIP-GST Gaim plugin is an open-source SIP/SIMPLE plugin library,
compliant with the IETF RFC3261 specification. It can be used with
Gaim as a SIP client software for uses such as VoIP, IM and
presence. Media support is integrated using GStreamer. SSIP-GST is
developed on top of Sofia-SIP, which is based on a SIP stack developed
at the Nokia Research Center. SSIP-GST plugin is licensed under the
GPL. SSIP-GST aims to leverage features of the cool Gaim UI for
Sofia-SIP library usage.


Changes since last release
--------------------------

Support for Gaim 2.0 API, and for backward compatibility support for
Gaim 1.x API.

- Messaging and Presence work now with OS X Panther and Tiger

- isComposing status messages (RFC3994)

- Buddies available in a hash table

- Only OSS supported as an audio driver; works also with ALSA due to
  OSS emulation

- local presence server

- UI support for local presence server and audio device

- incoming subscription authorization hooks

- using "SIP" (simple.png) buddy list icons when compiling against
  Gaim 2.x


Versioning
----------

This is the first release in upcoming 1.x series, where even x
indicates stable and odd x unstable releases.

- "make install-plugin" works


Known issues / bugs
-------------------

- Crashes with GStreamer 0.8.11 and Ubuntu 5.10 "The Breezy Badger"
  for unknown reason

- Plugin can be compiled for Windows in Cygwin/MinGW environment,
  author has not been able to run it properly
